Sharp's EM ONE (S01SH) is the world's first WVGA screen device (launched April 2007) and among the few equipped with NVIDIA's GoForce 5500 graphics accelerator. So far so good. The fact, however, that NVIDIA never released drivers for this chip, and that it runs OS 5.1.47 (WM 5) - the S01SH II, released in October 2007, has WM 6 - raises a number of compatibility issues.

Games, most of all applications, have little support for WVGA screens. Some newer games, created in the late 2008 and 2009 can work in WVGA or are specifically designed for this resolution, but the now dated S01SH will often have issues running these games or will not even be able to start them.

Before I could come up with the below list, I must have tested five-six dozen games labeled "WVGA"... many do not work for no apparent reason :(

Here is a list of the WVGA games working on my EM ONE:

Astraware's Bejeweled 2 v1.31
Jumba
Towers Trap v1.2
TikiTowers v2
Spore Origins v1.0.4
Transformers G1 Awakening
The Sims 3
ZeusQ
TOYSPRING.3D.Mines.v1.2 - laggy
SpiderMan WVGA version - laggy
Touch Break (Flash) - laggy
Fruity 1.2 WVGA version (Flash) - laggy
PocketPachisi v.1.23 - not full screen - has the top and bottom menu bars
Assassin's Creed 3D WVGA - pixelated because of EM ONE's huge screen :)
DJ Party Mixer

It is possible to play Flash games (originally designed for PC and for online playing) on the Sharp EM ONE and, I reckon, on most other devices that have Flash support and a fast processor. I have "ripped" a few games - meaning I download the SWF file, create an HTML file, put a Flash player in it and open the HTML file in Opera (8.65, also works in 9.7).

Most such Flash will work slowly - after all they are designed for PC, not PPC - or will have no support for touch screen. I don't really play games too often, therefore it is a short list that follows. Feel free to experiment - all you need is to create an HTML file with the following code:

Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>Home Run</title>
</head>
<body>
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="700" height="350">
            <param name="movie" value="HomeRun.swf">
            <param name="quality" value="high">
            <embed src="HomeRun.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="700" height="350"></embed>
        </object>
</body>
</html>

and change Flash file details accordingly to the game you want to try - see the original web page source code for the game's width and height, type in the correct path to the SWF file and you're good to go!
It is possible to stretch or shorten the Flash file sizes - try and decide for yourself.

Download Home Run - a funny game where you have to help a drunk guy walk by tapping to the left or right of him to keep him upright.
